Each student’s educational program at The Welcoming School is guided by the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP). The initial IEP is based upon findings from diagnostic testing such as psychological, educational, speech/language, and sensory motor. The information serves as a road map for instruction for the child by noting the learning strengths, outlining measurable goals in specific areas, and the criteria to be used to evaluate goal attainment. The areas addressed include organization, social/emotional, foundation skills in core areas, and academic goals. The focus of the IEP is based on the specific learning needs of the individual student.
Teachers update the Individualized Educational Plan three times a year; however; a student’s IEP can be reviewed at any time.
